NATION'S FAQS
Why Haiti?
- Although it is in the western hemisphere and in close proximity to Miami,
Florida, it is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with 80% of the population living under the poverty
line and 54% in abject poverty. Deforestation has made natural disasters even more devastating to farm lands and
the vast majority of subsistence farmers in the country cannot feed their families. Haiti also has one of the worst
performing educational systems in the developing world.
-
On a recent missions visit to Haiti, Living Word Christian Center (LWCC) was asked by Haiti's top government
officials to bring the program later named Project Eden to their country. Their invitation was based on the
accomplishments of LWCC and the The Joseph Center® in impacting the revitalization of Forest Park, Illinois, and
their trust and confidence in the abilities of LWCC and Pastor Bill Winston.
- LWCC
and The Joseph Center®
already have established relationships with churches, pastors and missionaries in Haiti, primarily Port-au-Prince.
